The Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) at Narasaraopeta Engineering College (NEC) has been in the forefront of computing innovations since 1998. The department offers the UG engineering program (B.Tech) with an intake of 240 students.  The program has been accredited thrice by NBA in 2009, 2013 and 2017. It also offers the M.Tech program in CSE with an intake 36 students. The college is Accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade and certified by ISO 9001:2008.

Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) imparts students with superior education in Information Technology (IT) and prepares them for a lucrative future in the rapidly evolving IT industry. After emerging as an Autonomous institution the department has designed and developed a dynamic curriculum to bridge the gap between the industry and academia with the latest practical oriented subject.

The department has highly qualified and experienced faculty with strong roots in the academics. The department is recognized as the Research Centre by JNTU Kakinada where the young research scholars can pursue their PhD program.

The computer science department has state-of-the-art laboratories to extensively serve the needs and quest for practical knowledge of the students. The labs have been installed with adequate computing facilities with LAN and relevant licensed software packages and adequate Audiovisual facilities. All classrooms are furnished with an LCD projector. The department has an adequate number of seminar halls with audio and visual facilities to conduct seminars/workshops/project reviews etc.

The department provides training for getting Microsoft certification, Mobile App development etc. The department encourages students in self-learning by offering MOOCS like NPTEL, COURSERA, edXetc. The department has MOUs with:

  • Scholars University USA for online courses, faculty and students. exchange.
  • IIT Bombay for offering spoken tutorials to students.
  • Oracle University to offer Oracle courses and certifications.

The department encourages students to do Tinny projects at the end of each semester, Mini-projects and Main Project as part of the curriculum to enhance practical skills and inculcate collaborative learning. To broaden student knowledge and to give them practical knowledge, we conduct seminars, workshops, guest lectures by experts from industry and peer academic institution, live projects and more.

The department received a grant of Rs. 1.75 Lakh funded by the AICTE, New Delhi for conducting a National Seminar “HI-Tech Trends in Emerging Computational Technologies” under Seminar Grant (SG). It also has received a grant of Rs 6 Lakh funded by DST for organizing a 10-day workshop on Big Data Analytics.

The department also provides consultancy services to the technical problems referred by the Industries.

With excellent laboratories, proficient faculty and an innovative learning system, we aim to develop core competencies in Computer Science and prepare students to take up challenges in research.
